Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy
The vestibular system is primarily responsible for sending information to our brain regarding movement and spatial orientation. When this system is disrupted, it can make you experience multiple symptoms including:
- Vertigo (spinning)
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Unsteadiness
There are treatment plans to help alleviate these debilitating symptoms. The most commonly treated disorder is known as Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). Studies have shown that specific maneuvers can alleviate over 90% of those patients who are treated for BPPV. If you are experiencing similar symptoms, contact your primary care physician to see if you would be appropriate for a referral to physical therapy for VRT.
